You are being asked to participate in a survey for research. In this survey, we will share information about the T-RECS research study and ask you for your opinions. We would like to gather your opinion because you live in a community where the research study will be done and the researchers want to know how the community feels about this type of research. The survey should take 15 minutes or less to complete.
The Treating Respiratory Emergencies in Children Study (T-RECS) study is a pilot study that looks at how paramedics respond to children with severe or life-threatening wheezing. This research is evaluating adding two medications used in the Emergency Department (ED) for wheezing (ipratropium and dexamethasone) to paramedic treatment prior to arrival in the ED. The overall study goal is to test whether giving these medications before hospital arrival improves care for children experiencing a life-threatening breathing emergency. This is a pilot study that tests our ability to gather all the data needed. As you participate in this survey you will learn more about the study and emergency research procedures. You will then be asked to share your feedback.
If you agree, you will view the study information and take a survey using the REDCap data management system. REDCap is a secure system for collecting research information and all of your responses will be anonymous and confidential. Your participation is completely voluntary. You may choose not to answer any question and are free to withdraw at any time.
There are no known risks or benefits associated with your participation in this survey. The knowledge we gain from conducting this survey may help us to know if the planned study procedures are appropriate for your community.
